Love Journey
Welcome to the Love Journey page!!

.
The word “love” appears (in it’s various forms) in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures anywhere from 440 – 850 times (depending on your preferred English translation). As a result, we’re pretty confident that the predominant attitude we’re called to have towards God, others, ourselves, and creation is one of love.
.

.
“God is love” as 1 John 4:8 says and we are called to be “imitators of God” according to Ephesians 5:1. So, unless we at the STYG are crazy, we want to make every moment in our lives a Journey of Love. As a result, everything we do (games, singing, discussion, eating, road trips, service) EVERYTHING we want to do as an act of love towards God, others, ourselves, and creation.

.
Each month we take a Journey of Love, partnering with local organizations and people which are seeking to make the sad things in the world become untrue . . . or to put it another way . . . to see God’s dreams come true. This could be a homeless shelter, a feeding program, sending care packages to college students, walking through the local neighborhoods and reaching out to those in need of assistance, elder care facilities, the list goes on.
.

.
Each summer we take an extended Journey of Love & spend a week in community, spiritual formation, and service to “the least of these” around the globe. We’ve journeyed to rural Virginia, Kentucky, and West Virginia; served in urban centers of San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York City, and Washington DC; helped with disaster relief in Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Galveston, Nashville, and Washington, IL; and traveled across international borders to Peru & Mexico. We do these trips not because we are bringing God to the people in those places. God is already there. We simply want to join in the things that God is already doing and bless the things that God is blessing.
